September 2019 newsletter

Dear Parents,

Welcome back and I hope you have had a lovely summer break and we welcome all our new children this term.

Near the entrance of the nursery you will find some important information such as term dates and newsletters. Please ensure you familiarise yourself with this and new notices will go up regularly. Notices and reminders will also get added to your child’s tapestry account so please look out for those.

Staffing

We have a new manager starting with us this term. Her name is Clare and she has been working with Kiddiecare for a number of years now and has been managing our other Hayes branch for 3 years. She has a number of years experience and understands the way in which Kiddiecare like to support our children and families. Chloe has now gone on maternity leave from the end of August. We wish her all the best and we will keep you updated with any news on the arrival of the little one.

Parent Activity session

We like to continuously involve all parents in every step of the way to developing their child’s learning. We would like to invite parents/carers to come in and complete an activity of your choice with the children; if you would like to read a story with the children, do a cooking activity or help us celebrate any festivals please feel free to come and do this. Speak with myself and I will be happy to arrange this.

Bring a friend to Nursery

We are introducing a bring a friend to nursery day. This will be on the first Friday of every month, your child can bring a friend with them to nursery for an hour between 10am and 11am. The child’s parent must stay with them for the hour. If your child is not booked into nursery on this day then they are very welcome to come along with a friend, parents just need to stay if is not the child’s regular session.

Introduce a friend to Kiddiecare

If you introduce a friend or make a recommendation to someone and their child starts attending any of our Kiddiecare nurseries you will receive a £20 gift card. All you have to do is ensure they give you and your child’s name to the manager when they start with us. The child needs to be attending the nursery for half a term (6 weeks) then you will receive your voucher.

Invoices

Invoices will be given out around the 21st of each month so you can see what your fees are. For those doing term time and for those getting funding during the term and not during holiday your invoices will vary from month to month. Fees are due to be made in advance, you have the option of paying monthly or weekly. However monthly fees are to be paid by the 28th of each month for the month ahead. Weekly fees are to be paid at the beginning of each week for the week ahead. Late payments will result in late charges being added to future invoices.

30 Hours free childcare

The government have introduced 30 hours of free childcare to working parents. All 3 or 4-year olds can receive 15 hours of free childcare from the term after their third birthday, this can be extended to 30 hours for families where both parents are in work, each earning more than £120 per week but no more than £100,000 in a year.

In order to check if you are eligible please visit childcarechoices.gov.uk, you will be required to register your details and they will be able to tell you if you are eligible. Once they have confirmed eligibility they will give you a code. Bring this code into us and we can get you started. You will need to check your eligibility every three months as you can lose the additional hours if your circumstances change. You get regular reminders to renew your code from HMRC via email or text so please ensure you are looking out for these. Late renewals will result in you not getting funding for that term.

Tax-free childcare

To apply for tax-free childcare, you will need to go to childcarechoices.gov.uk and set up an account. For every 80p you pay in for your childcare the government will top up an extra 20p. Therefore, the government is topping up 20% of your childcare costs. The scheme is running for children under the age of 12 years. To qualify, parents will have to be in work, and each earning at least £120 a week and not more than £100,000 per year. Once you have registered you can search for our nursery and payments can then be made. It also gives you flexibility to pay more in when you are able to build up a balance.

Late collection fees

May I remind everyone about late collection charges, if you are going be late picking up your child please ring 02088489888 and let us know so we are able to arrange staff cover. The late charge is £10.00 for every fifteen minutes (or part of) which is payable on the day

Tapestry:

Throughout your child’s time with us their key person will be doing regular observations and these get uploaded onto Tapestry. This system helps us keep a record of your child’s achievements and development. It helps us to identify their strong area as well as any areas that they may be finding a bit more difficult. Once your child has started with us you will be sent a link via email for you to set up your own password etc and you will then be able to log in to view what your child has been doing. You can also add your own photos, comment on our observations and view reports. If you need any help with this then please let us know.

If your child already attends the nursery and you haven’t got the tapestry set up please let us know so we can sort that out for you.

Meals

As we do not have cooking facilities for hot meals, we ask that parents provide a packed lunch for their children lunch. These must be healthy and contain no chocolates, sweets, cakes, biscuits, fizzy drinks. We cannot store childrens’ lunches in the fridge so it would be advisable for you to provide a thermal lunch bag and put in ice packs to keep the food cool. We are also unable to heat up food, you can buy a thermal flask that will keep hot food warm enough until lunch time if you wish. Please ensure all bags, containers, flasks have your child’s name on them.

We are able to provide tea for the children in the afternoon, which consists of sandwiches, beans on toast, soup, pitta breads. There is a charge of £1 per day if you wish to have a nursery tea, alternatively you can bring a packed lunch for this too. Tea money is payable at the beginning of each week for the week ahead.
